Invisible Disabilities Week 2025
"You look fine!" How many times has someone with a disability heard this? This week is Invisible Disabilities Week, and the perfect opportunity to educate friends, family and colleagues. MS, Chrones, Epilepsy, Autism, Fibromyalgia.. just some of the conditions people are living with on a day-to-day basis.
Having a condition doesn't stop you from getting the most out of a sailing voyage with Cirdan. Our crew are briefed on all conditions ahead of a voyage and will tailor a trip to the individual needs of those onboard. Never say you can't do something without trying.
”Having ADHD, I felt quite nervous but also so happy I was engaging in a new activity after also being recently diagnosed with epilepsy; I felt so restricted. Joining the boats, I felt so incredibly nervous that I might have a seizure and the crew not knowing what to do, and after having two seizures I felt more safe knowing even with having seizures I was still able to join in. The crew were so great and helped me when needed, and checked on me throughout the voyage,” says Chloe, chairperson of the Cirdan Youth View Forum.
